So in preparation for my trip to the Black Hills I thought I’d share my gear list. I’ll be taking a ton of gear that I would otherwise leave at home because I’ll be staying at a primitive but improved campground. Which although the site has no electricity and has vault toilets, (and no showers) it’s still a campground and not a backwoods trip. So I’ll have my truck to carry my gear, which mean’s I’m going to be living it up (for my standards). Anyway here goes:
- Big Agnes Manzanares HV SL2 mtnGLO Tent this 2 man tent has built in LED lights that run off of 3 AAA batteries.
- Kelty 35 degree extra long sleeping bag (My trusty go to sleeping bag)
- Sea-to-Summit CoolMax Sleeping bag liner (Keeps the sleeping bag clean, and if it’s hot this will be my sleeping bag.)
- Therma-rest inflatable sleeping pad.
- Black Diamond Spot 325 Headlamp
- Leki Treking Poles
- 4 gallon folding water cube
- Kelty Redtail 27 Pack (Nice Daypack for carrying some essential gear while doing my day hikes)
- Rain Jacket and Rain Pants
- Osprey Atmos 50 Backpack (This is my “suitcase” on this trip. normally this is my backpack that every piece of gear has to fit into)
- Clothes (Avoid cotton clothing, it absorbs water, so I’ll be taking synthetic material clothing)
- Brunton 2 burner Propane camp stove.
- Cast Iron Skillet (I’ll cook almost everything in this)
- 2QT MSR Stainless Steel Pot (for what I can’t cook in the skillet and for boiling water)
- Cordova Outdoors 48Quart Cooler (Better than a Yeti and made in the USA)
- Lucia Solar rechargeable LED Lantern
- 4′ Folding Table
- 35 degree Eurkea Youth sleeping bag (Cash’s bed)
- First Aid Kit
- Toilet Paper (Always bring your own supply)
- Dr Bonner’s Biodegradable soap
- Plastic wash basin
- Dinnerware
- Lighter / matches (Gonna need to light the stove and start a fire)
- 15′ Steel cable lead and screw-in tie-out for Cash
- Tripod with Bluetooth button, for setting up those awesome shots
- Journal and Fountain Pen
- Bible
Cheers to an amazing adventure ahead! We love you and hope you find the restorative energy and peace you so greatly deserve. Our mountain man! Xoxo
