Today I did a little bit of everything, pretty much all of the activities I’ve told you about the past few day. So I thought I’d share some about the people I’ve met here on my short stay.
Like our Camp Host here at Grizzly Creek Primitive camp. His name is John and he is retired Air Force. During the winter months he’s home in Florida, but in the summer he works for as a camp ground host for places like this campground. The interesting thing I found out about John is that while he worked for the Air Force as a meteorologist, he briefed astronauts and worked with NASA. So John has worked with Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and the like, pretty cool I’d say.
The while packing up after fishing today, I met Roy. Roy is a retired electrical lineman from California who moved to South Dakota because it is so much cheaper to live here than in California. He said to me he could have stayed in California and still been able to make ends meet, or he could move here and live like kings. His son just recently retired from the US Forestry Service. But Roy shared with me his fishing secrets, where he says he has caught his limit of Rainbow Trout each time he’s gone fishing for the past 14 years. Thanks Roy.
My neighbors to my camp site were 4 college girls from Nebraska, Camden, Katelyn, Hanna, and Amelia. They were very good neighbors and the fell in love with Cash. Cash loved every minute of the attention, and was showing off for them whenever possible. They left us their remaining firewood, and they found Cash a dog toy that he’s played with ever since they gave it to him.
Anyway, that’s just the highlights of the stories from the people I’ve met out here. I don’t have any pictures of them to share (I never asked if it was ok to take their pictures, maybe I should have?) Anyway here are some photos of some of the activities we did do today.
