This summer’s grand adventure will knock off at least 1 of my bucket list items.
Folks I’m headed to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. I’m very excited for this trip for many reasons but, there is one disappointment. Cash will not be joining me. Domestic animals (read dogs) are not allowed below the canyon rim at the Grand Canyon. Since we are going to be hiking and camping below the rim, Cash can not come. However, Julie will be making this trip with me, I’m very excited that we can share this adventure together.

I will be blogging this adventure similar to how I did for the Black Hills Adventure last year, hopefully with better cell / WiFi coverage than I had in the Black Hills.
We’ll take a couple of days to drive out to Grand Canyon Village where we’ll stop along they way and see a few sights, one of which will be the Gateway Arch, and we’re gonna hunt down a few food trucks to eat at along the way.
Here are a few things we’ll be doing:
- Staying on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon
- Backpacking down to Horseshoe Mesa, camping on the mesa near an abandoned mine.
- Take a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour
- Hiking up the Narrows in Zion National Park
- Take a Jeep Tour near Zion
- I’ll beat Julie at Putt-Putt
- Julie will beat me at Tennis
I look forward to sharing this trip with you. I’m also very excited to check off a few of the National Parks that I’ve wanted to visit for a long time.
We’re so excited for you two! Your plans sound amazing. Here’s to new adventures and experiences!
What a great trip!! We are as a family heading to the black hills area and Yellowstone/ Tetons. I really wanna hit Zion and Bryce but not sure time will allow. Maybe Glacier or the Rockies instead! God creation is amazing! I’ll be praying for your trip.
